Treating Digestive Problems with Chiropractic Care
A new patient comes in last month, complaining of low back pain. During the history part of my exam, she tells me she is also constipated. After completing her examination, orthopedically and neurologically, I review with her, the positive findings of her exam.
Most people come to the chiropractor for pain syndromes, headaches, neck pain, low back pain, pain, numbness or tingling down an arm or leg. Nerves not only go to all innervations of muscle, but also go to all organs of the body. So, if a particular nerve is pinched in the lower back that goes to your stomach or intestine, that particular organ cannot function at 100%.
The patient expressed to me that sometimes she cannot move her bowels for a week at a time and has been hospitalized twice for this problem. I placed this 21 year old patient on a schedule of chiropractic adjustments twice a week for two weeks, and also recommended that she take Greens first, which is a supplement with over 100% of the recommended daily fruits and vegetables in powder form.
It took four weeks for the patient to be free of back pain, and another two weeks for her digestive system to begin to function properly. She has now been placed on maintenance care for the next two months, and after that she will return to the office as needed.
Remember Chiropractic first, medicine second, and surgery as a last resort.
